In 2002, CajaCanarias completed the restoration of the Casa Xuárez Gallinato, a historic building located in the Plaza del Adelantado in La Laguna, opposite the Palacio de Nava. It now houses one of the Cultural Spaces of the CajaCanarias Foundation and the headquarters of the Fyde CajaCanarias Foundation. The first building on this site dates back to 1523 and belonged to the person for whom it is named, an influential figure of the time and nephew of the Adelantado Alonso Fernández de Lugo.
The building is a two-story urban property, constructed in the second half of the 18th century, which, along with the Town Hall, the Convent of Las Catalinas, and the Nava Palace, has formed a prominent part of the urban landscape of the Plaza del Adelantado. Its façade incorporates Neoclassical elements and has two distinct sections. The first, facing the Plaza del Adelantado, consists of a single bay and two stories, built with thick walls of stone, mud, and lime, the traditional materials of Canarian architecture from this period.
