Description

The concept of heritage is historically linked to a specific context and is neither a universal nor a neutral category. To apply it today to the broadest possible range of phenomena, it is essential to remember and interpret both the establishment of the idea of heritage and the most significant stages of its institutional and intellectual development. The ultimate paradox of a constructive approach to analyzing heritage can be expressed in a simple statement: heritage is never inherited; rather, it must be built.
