Description
In this dialogue, Humberto Ríos, trustee of the Gregorio Peces-Barba Foundation, and Dulce Cairós, dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of La Laguna, will discuss the career of Gregorio Peces-Barba as a jurist, politician, teacher and defender of human rights, highlighting his role as one of the fathers of the 1978 Constitution, president of the Congress of Deputies and founder of the Carlos III University of Madrid.
The exhibition of this Legacy-Archive will act as a map that allows one to explore the territory of the democratic transition in Spain, the drafting of the 1978 Constitution and the evolution of events from the most important milestones in the political, social, intellectual and legal life of these decades, including the defense of Fundamental Rights before the courts, which is in reality the biography of Gregorio Peces-Barba.
The Foundation that bears his name and is dedicated to the study and cooperation of human rights, will be another element that will allow us to highlight his important role in contributing to the strengthening of the Rule of Law through the teaching and dissemination of democratic values and principles, especially among new generations.
Following the conference, one of the exhibition's curators, Honorio Penadés, will conduct a guided tour of the exhibition, offering insights into the human, political, and academic dimensions of Gregorio Peces-Barba and the enduring relevance of his democratic legacy.
