Who is Mayte Carrasco Gea?

A multi-award-winning documentary director and producer, writer, and war correspondent specializing in armed conflict and human rights, she has covered some of the world's most dangerous regions, including Georgia, Afghanistan, Mali, Syria, Iraq, Israel/Palestine, and Latin America. Her firsthand experience has given her a direct and profound understanding of the real impact of war and peace processes. Her work has been recognized with international awards such as the BAFTA as executive producer for the film "State of Rage," the IRIS Award from the Spanish Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her coverage of the Syrian civil war, the Grimme Prize from Germany for "Afghanistan, the Wounded Land," and the International Press Centre's Best Foreign Correspondent Award. She is also a television presenter (Las trincheras de la vida) and the founder of The Big Story Films, a production company focused on documentaries about conflict and human rights. She has taught at universities such as Sciences Po in France and Universitat Jaume I in Spain, and has published several novels and essays. She also lectures on geopolitics in private sessions for banks, senior executives, foundations, and institutional offices.
