Description

Today, we see that democracy is threatened by multiple destabilizing factors, both national and international, whose ultimate goal is institutional capture and the concentration of power. This may entail the degradation of human rights; foster exclusionary rhetoric and xenophobia; and promote technological mechanisms that amplify disinformation and polarization as vectors for eroding the rule of law, delegitimizing oversight and accountability mechanisms, and ultimately, restricting civic space and fundamental rights.

In this situation, defending human rights and the international legal order is the only way to protect democracy. Remaining indifferent only contributes to the consolidation and realization of this threat, with harmful and irreversible consequences for everyone.
