Holder of the UNESCO Chair in Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property and Cultural Rights at the University of Siena, she teaches courses on illicit trafficking of cultural property, art crimes, and cultural values education at the University of Siena, Gonzaga University in Florence, the Lorenzo de' Medici International Institute, the Palazzo Spinelli Institute of Art and Restoration, and the ITS Marco Polo Academy in Venice. Sheis responsible for Public Archaeology at the CAMNES Centre for Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies. She holds a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Reading (UK ) with a dissertation on "Human Rights Implications of Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property: A Case Study of Iraq."
